School comes first

Before taking a child into our care we visit their village, where we talk to their family and the village chief. During these visits we discover the children who are truly motivated to obtain an education. Our Centre is open to them as soon as they are of school age up to the end of secondary school.

Every day the children leave the Centre to attend school; primary, secondary, business and technical college. The Centre pays for their five obligatory uniforms and we organise the necessary paperwork to obtain their identity papers, which they often don’t have, being members of a tribe.

The children from ‘Le Sourire’ quickly embrace the opportunity given to them. They study seriously and obtain excellent results.

For them, learning the Thai language is their first step toward integration, their passport to the Thai society. The Centre’s staff make sure they do their homework conscientiously and keep in close touch with the schoolteachers, who appreciate the Sourire children’s participation in class.
